The All-Party Parliamentary Group for Media (APPG Media) congratulates Tim Davie on his new role and looks forward to building on its positive relationship with the BBC, which remains one of the most important and influential broadcasting services in the global media industry.
Andy Carter MP, Chair of the APPG Media, said:
“Today, more than ever, the media plays a critical role in our lives with the BBC acting as the cornerstone of the industry. This is a perfect time for someone with Tim’s experience to take over as Director General. He has forged successful partnerships right across the sector, and has a strong track record from his role as Chief Executive of BBC Studios. There are many challenges that the industry faces currently and the group looks forward to working with Tim to shape it in a positive direction”
The media sector finds itself in a critical, complex but exciting time, as the industry evolves at an increasingly fast and unprecedented pace, and must confront many challenges imposed by a modern, tech-driven society. The APPG Media looks will continue to collaborate with and scutinise the BBC and other media platforms in this new era to confront the industry’s challenges and ensure that the sector meets the needs and standards of British audiences into its future.
The All-Party Parliamentary Media Group is a forum for discussion within Parliament on public policy as it affects the media sector.
