The first in the APPG Media’s webinar series, ‘Create, communicate, connect: Social media as a tool to empower people and movements’, delivered in partnership with TikTok, was successful and well-attended, thanks to an expert panel of speakers and host Andy Carter MP, who came together to discuss a variety of different pertinent issues in the media industry.
The webinar featured Alexi Mostrous, Editor and Partner at news start-up and media disruptor Tortoise Media, Helen Milner OBE, Chief Executive of social and digital change charity The Good Things Foundation, and Fabio Thomas of BeetFreeks, a growing community of young creatives. They will be joined by TikTok’s Director of Global Policy Elizabeth Kanter, as the world's fastest growing social media platform and short-form video destination uses its scale to create positive change among its digital communities and youth following.
In a truly fascinating conversation, The panel moved from discussing companies obligations to help people and communities stay connected online during Covid-19 and creating positive online communities and movements, to the most effective way of platforms can help users to stay informed and how to foster greater digital literacy to empower users?
