Welcome!

Welcome to the launch of the new website for the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Media, the leading forum in Parliament for discussion and debate on public policy as it affects the media sector.

The group, now in its twenty-seventh year, is an impartial, efficiently run organisation, which provides a useful interface between Parliament, the industry and other key stakeholders. Iā€™m extremely proud to serve as Chair of a group that makes such a valuable contribution to raising the quality of debate on media policy in Parliament and beyond, and one that is so greatly valued both by ministers and industry.

We are now excited to bring our discussions and debate online for everyone to see and engage with. This website will serve as a platform for the media industry, politicians, policymakers, and other key stakeholders to voice their views and, contribute to and raise pertinent issues. Moreover, the website shows all of our previous and upcoming events, making it easier for industry and policymakers to communicate and for those not already involved to join the debate.

Following our highly successful events in January and June of this year, delivered in collaboration with Ofcom and Wireless (News UK) respectively, we are very much looking forward to our next event, a breakfast briefing delivered in partnership with Arqiva, which focuses on changing consumer viewing habits, with a particular emphasis on the increase in consumers using streaming services rather than terrestrial television.

Looking slightly further ahead, our annual reception, a celebration of the All-Party Parliamentary Media Group and an opportunity for key industry figures and parliamentarians to network, share ideas and discuss potential future ventures and partnerships, will be held on 17th December 2019. The agenda will outline a summary of what we have achieved in 2019, our positive vision for the future and the launch of the strategy and programme of events for 2020.

Please do have a look around our brand-new website and follow us on Twitter. During this period of transition, we would be very grateful to hear your thoughts, ideas and suggestions.

As ever, I would like to personally thank the officers, parliamentarians and sponsors who help to support this very important group.

We will be in touch very soon with more news and updates.

Yours faithfully,

Rosie Cooper MP, Chair
